Outcome monitoring and evaluations using Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS)

2020-01-22 connect learns monitoring and evaluation training

The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with a step-by-step approach to conducting population based surveys using LQAS for both baseline and ongoing M&E assessments. These materials were developed by the APHIA II Evaluation Project with funding from USAID/Kenya.

This training package focuses on a sample survey methodology—Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS)—that focuses on giving program managers the information they need to set program baselines and targets, direct resources,  and discover the source of problems. LQAS is a tool for managers to help them improve overall program performance.

This training package includes a trainer’s manual and participant’s handbook. Within the trainer’s manual each module includes powerpoint presentations, trainer notes, participant handouts, and class exercises.

By the end of this training participants will have:

  • Reviewed the links between program planning, M&E indicators and survey methods
  • Learned and practiced random sampling
  • Learned and practiced location and respondent selection using the LQAS methodology
  • Learned and practiced analysis and use of survey results
  • Discussed the benefits and limitations to using LQAS
