Evidence, policy needs and political realities - Learning from experiences in Africa

This session draws on research carried out for the book, provisionally titled: Evidence Based Policy Making in Africa: Planning and Implementation. The book is part of a research project being carried out by CLEAR AA with the support of the Hewlett Foundation.

The book utilises case study research to explore experiences of organisations and individuals using evidence to inform development outcomes. The cases are written by researchers and policy makers working together to explore evidence journeys in different contexts and to identify and unpack the critical factors that enabled or hindered the use of evidence. The book identifies and documents lessons from the participating African countries, with the aim of sharing these with policy makers, practitioners and researchers across Africa and beyond, and contributing to building the networks and processes which help to promote the use of evidence on the African continent.
